Jakarta, INTI - The participation of women in the digital technology sector is widespread. Women have ample opportunities in the development and utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia.
Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, stated that women can be drivers of digital progress, especially in AI development.
"Women are not left behind in the role and advancement of digital technology that continues to move forward into the future," he said during his Keynote Speech at the Talkshow and Workshop on Enhancing Women’s Digital Talent: Mastering Generative AI, held virtually from South Jakarta on Thursday (02/05/2024).
Minister Budi Arie hopes that Indonesian women will continue to cultivate optimism, have enthusiasm, curiosity, and keep up with developments in the digital era, especially in helping and protecting families and children.
The Ministry of Communication and Information cited many inspiring women, such as Dr. Fei-Fei Li, a Computer Science professor at Stanford University who also served as the Director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory from 2013 to 2018.
"She also founded a nonprofit organization, AI4All, which focuses on increasing inclusivity in AI. It's no wonder she was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in AI in 2023," he explained.
To promote more inclusive AI utilization for women, the Ministry of Communication and Information has prepared various human resources development programs in the digital field that can be widely utilized.
"First is the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) offering training in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analytics. Second is the Digital Leadership Academy (DLA) as a platform for women leaders to learn about formulating digital policies," the Minister stated.
Additionally, the Ministry of Communication and Information also offers a Master's Degree Scholarship Program in collaboration with various top universities domestically and internationally.
"Therefore, I encourage women to participate in these programs to realize inclusive, empowering, and sustainable digital transformation," he concluded.
