Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is exploring opportunities for collaboration to strengthen data governance with Amazon Web Services.

Wamenkominfo Nezar Patria stated that the increased connectivity and interaction of society with digital devices will drive the growth of the data ecosystem. Therefore, Indonesia needs good data governance guidelines.

"Everyone generates, uses, and produces data. So, all these activities must be regulated with good data governance because some data is personal. With AWS, we are actually exploring how data governance works," he said after attending the Executive Meeting and Dialogue between the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and AWS in Seattle, United States, on Tuesday (30/04/2024) local time.

According to Wamen Nezar Patria, personal data is important and requires extra protection. Moreover, Indonesia already has several regulations to protect personal data.

"With AWS, we are learning how data is managed in Data Centers. Whether the data is fully controlled by the country that uses cloud services or whether the data is out of reach? This is the subject of intense discussion," he added.

Wamenkominfo stated that there are now the latest technologies that guarantee fairer and safer data regulation. Thus, data owners can have full authority over the data stored in cloud services.

"AWS provides the latest, most up-to-date data management available today. We are also exploring with several other tech companies how this data governance is implemented," he revealed.
