Jakarta, INTI - The development of the new capital, Nusantara, is not just about relocating the government. More than that, Nusantara is a symbol of Indonesia's ambition to enter a new era of sustainable, inclusive, and technology-driven development. Designed as a smart city, Nusantara is expected to be a hub of innovation that supports economic growth and social welfare for all Indonesian people.

According to Prof. Mohammad Ali Berawi, Deputy of Green and Digital Transformation, Nusantara's blueprint includes a city development plan integrated with smart technology, enabling the government to operate more efficiently and transparently. “We are creating a responsive government that can adapt to technological advancements and the needs of a modern society,” he explained.

The Pillars of a Smart City

Nusantara’s development blueprint rests on several key pillars:

  1. Smart Governance – A governance system supported by digital technology to ensure transparency and accountability.
  2. Smart Living – Focusing on residents’ quality of life through comfortable, healthy, and eco-friendly facilities.
  3. Smart Industry and Human Resources – Emphasizing the development of skilled labor and adaptable industries.
  4. Smart Built Environment and Infrastructure – Sustainable and eco-friendly urban infrastructure management.
  5. Smart Natural Resources and Energy – Managing natural resources with a focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Berawi stated that these pillars are interrelated to create a city that is not only efficient but also sustainable. “This development is based on the principle that technology should be used to enhance the quality of life without harming the environment,” he added.

The Role of Data and Artificial Intelligence

One of the key innovations in the development of Nusantara is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to support urban planning. According to Adhiguna Mahendra, Head of the IKN Data and Artificial Intelligence Center, “Data plays a crucial role in ensuring that all planning decisions are evidence-based and can be dynamically adjusted.”

AI is used to monitor energy consumption, design efficient transportation systems, and predict future infrastructure needs. By leveraging these technologies, Nusantara is expected to become a city that can quickly adapt to global changes, whether in terms of climate or economic developments.

A Bright Future Ahead

With a target of becoming a carbon-neutral city by 2045, Nusantara is expected to be a pioneer in sustainable city development in Southeast Asia. “We are committed to ensuring that Nusantara is not only a modern city but also a global example of a sustainable city,” said Berawi.

This development is not just about relocating the capital but about creating a better future for generations to come. Nusantara, with all its advantages, has the potential to become a symbol of Indonesia’s much-anticipated transformation.
