Jakarta, INTI - According to Government Regulation (PP) Number 14 of 2015 on the National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) 2015-2035, industrial services are one of the supporting sectors in building the national industry. To date, industrial services have played a strategic role as enablers for the effective, efficient, integrative, and comprehensive development of the industry, as well as supporting activities in the manufacturing sector and other sectors to contribute to the national GDP.
"The Ministry of Industry projects the contribution of industrial services during 2015-2022 to be 3.35-3.75 percent of the national GDP. Additionally, Indonesia's total exports of service products in 2022 reached USD 23 billion, of which approximately USD 370 million were maintenance and repair services," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the Industrial Services as Drivers of the Industrial Sector Contribution event in Jakarta, Tuesday (23/7).
The Minister explained that industrial service activities are based on three approaches: general, technical, and legal, to operationalize the classification of industrial services as per the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI). "Currently, the Ministry of Industry oversees 520 KBLIs (5 digits), with 71 KBLIs (5 digits) within the scope of industrial services," he mentioned.
Given the importance of the role of industrial services, the Ministry, through the Agency for Standardization and Industrial Services Policy (BSKJI), is drafting a roadmap for the development of industrial services in 10 priority sub-sectors as mandated in Presidential Regulation (PP) No. 74 of 2022. The 10 sub-sectors include Industrial Design and Construction Services, Industrial Equipment Installation and Commissioning Services, Industrial Research, Engineering, and Design Services, and Industrial Process Services.
Next, Maintenance and Repair Services, Industrial Management Consultancy Services, Industrial Logistics and Distribution Services, Certification, Testing, Inspection, and Calibration Services, Packaging Services, and Industry 4.0 Support Services. "This certainly provides an opportunity for stakeholders to participate in providing their views and positioning in supporting the preparation of the roadmap," said the Minister.
PP 74/2022 also mentions seven program targets for the development of industrial services, including the availability of a classification of industrial service activities, the mapping of the contribution of industrial services to the national GDP, and the formulation of policy recommendations for the development of priority industrial services.
Additionally, it includes the enhancement of supporting infrastructure for industrial services, increasing the capacity of domestic industrial services to support the industrial sector, improving the competence of domestic industrial service human resources, and increasing the role of industrial services globally.
The Minister added that several programs and facilitation currently being carried out and provided by the Ministry for the industrial services sector aim to strengthen the industrial sector, such as the preparation of Norms, Standards, Procedures, and Criteria (NSPK) for industrial services, as well as facilitation and mentoring for the development of industrial services.
"We are also building partnerships between industrial service actors and the manufacturing industry or other sectors, increasing competitiveness through knowledge transfer among industrial service stakeholders, and encouraging opportunities and cooperation for industrial services at national, regional, and international levels," he added.
Head of BSKJI Andi Rizaldi explained that the role and function of the industrial services sector are increasingly significant with the development of technology, digitalization, and sustainability in the industrial value chain, encouraging the birth and growth of various industrial service business actors in Indonesia.
"Industrial services can serve as enablers for the effective, efficient, integrative, and comprehensive development of the industry, supporting activities in the manufacturing sector and other sectors to contribute to the national GDP," he said.
Therefore, BSKJI is organizing the Industrial Services Exhibition and Seminar held on July 23-25, 2024, at the Ministry of Industry, Jakarta. "This activity aims to introduce and promote industrial service business stakeholders, foster the industrial services ecosystem as enablers of national industrial sector growth, and develop the potential and role of industrial services in the industrial sector in the national economy," he explained.
The Industrial Services Exhibition and Seminar are attended by 44 exhibitors from industrial service companies and associations, as well as Balai within BSKJI. Meanwhile, the seminar and talk show discuss the positioning, role, and contribution of industrial services in strengthening the industrial sector in the Indonesian economy.
The seminar and talk show feature speakers and resource persons from industrial service stakeholders. In addition, various discussions and topics related to industry and industrial services to attract visitors' interest are packaged in the form of games, product demos, and industrial service demonstrations by exhibitors.
