INTI- Jakarta, June 19, 2023 - The Acting Minister of Communication and Informatics, Mahfud MD, has called upon the entire Indonesian population to express gratitude for the successful launch of the Republic of Indonesia's SATRIA-1 satellite. This historic moment, which took place at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States, is expected to bring numerous benefits to the nation.

"I invite all Indonesians to be thankful and say Alhamdulillah (praise be to God) for the successful launch of SATRIA-1, which took place at 18:21 Florida time, or precisely at 05:21 AM local time this morning," stated Minister Mahfud MD in Central Jakarta on Monday.

Minister Mahfud MD explained that SATRIA-1 is Indonesia's first internet satellite launched using SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket. He emphasized that SATRIA-1 is intended to ensure equitable internet access, particularly for educational, healthcare, and public service purposes, benefiting communities, the military, and the police force across the entire nation, especially in remote and underserved areas known as the "3T" regions.

Addressing recent public criticisms that questioned the functionality of SATRIA-1, Minister Mahfud MD firmly rebutted such claims, stating, "I want to refute the notion that SATRIA-1 serves no purpose due to the lack of ground networks, especially in light of the ongoing investigation into the 4G base transceiver station (BTS) case handled by the Attorney General's Office."

According to Minister Mahfud MD, SATRIA-1 represents a strategic national project aimed at providing essential public services in the 3T regions. It will significantly benefit schools, hospitals, government offices, as well as police and military posts in remote, outlying, and underdeveloped areas throughout the country.

The successful launch of SATRIA-1 marks a significant milestone in Indonesia's efforts to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all citizens have access to vital internet services. The government's commitment to expanding connectivity and promoting digital inclusion remains steadfast, as SATRIA-1 stands poised to deliver transformative benefits to communities nationwide. ***.Hans
