INTI- Kennedy Space Center, Florida, June 18, 2023 - The launch of the Republic of Indonesia's multifunctional satellite, SATRIA-1, has been a success. The government-owned satellite will occupy the 146°E orbital slot directly above Papua Island.
Acting CEO of the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Arief Tri Hardiyanto, expressed his hopes that SATRIA-1 will successfully reach its designated orbit and operate effectively.
"Alhamdulillah, the launch went smoothly. This is a remarkable achievement and a success that reflects the prayers of the Indonesian people," he said after witnessing the SATRIA-1 launch at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, United States, on Sunday (June 18) local time.
The SATRIA-1 launch was delayed by 17 minutes from its original schedule at 18:04 local time or Monday (June 19, 2023) at 05:04 AM Western Indonesia Time. Nevertheless, it remained within the launch time window.
Arief Tri Hardiyanto explained that Thales Alenia Space will monitor SATRIA-1 to ensure that all its devices function properly.
"We hope that all the components on SATRIA-1, including the solar cells and antennas, work well and can be controlled from the ground station," he said.
The Acting CEO of BAKTI Kominfo stated that after this stage, SATRIA-1 will move to occupy the 146°E orbital slot above the skies of Papua.
"We hope that all the subsequent stages go smoothly so that SATRIA-1 can occupy its designated orbit in November 2023," he added.
SATRIA-1 was launched using the Falcon 9 rocket owned by Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX). It is the first government-owned multifunctional satellite in Asia with the largest capacity. The government hopes that the successful launch of SATRIA-1 will support the acceleration of national digital transformation. ***.Hans
