Jakarta, INTI - As part of Indonesia’s large-scale transformation, the development of the new capital city (IKN) brings with it the concept of a smart city that integrates cutting-edge technology to create a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable urban environment. The technologies implemented in IKN are designed to support various aspects of life, from security and transportation to energy management, all interconnected within a single, efficient system.
Implementing Smart City Technology in IKN Nusantara Smart City technology aims to integrate various sectors of life into a system that supports one another. This technology encompasses critical domains such as government, transportation and mobility, living, natural resources and energy, and industry and human resources. With this concept, each element of the city is designed to be interconnected, maximizing the use of technology for efficiency and sustainability.
Tonny Agus Setiono emphasizes the importance of a digital ecosystem that supports the development of IKN. One of the primary technologies that are essential for the smart city system is the Telecommunication Network. This technology enables communication between various devices across the city, from smart sensors to autonomous vehicles. With a robust network infrastructure, data can be exchanged efficiently, enabling quick and accurate decision-making.
Data Centers as the Backbone of a Smart City Another key technology is the Data Center, which serves as the storage and processing hub for all the data generated by the city’s systems and sensors. In IKN, data centers will manage urban services ranging from transportation monitoring to healthcare services and resource management.
Agus Gunawan points out that the data centers built in IKN must follow principles of sustainability. The technology used must be energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, aligning with IKN’s overarching goal of creating a green city. The data infrastructure will also support advanced applications like IoT, AI, and big data, all of which are crucial for managing the smart city’s operations.
Improving City Responsiveness and Security To ensure security and order within the smart city, IKN will implement an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC). This system will integrate security monitoring, emergency services, and transportation coordination into a single management hub. With advanced technologies, the ICCC will optimize decision-making, particularly in emergencies or disaster scenarios.
Government Policy and Collaboration with the Industry Sector The role of the government is essential in creating policies that support the implementation of smart city technologies. Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, explains that for IKN to realize its vision of a sustainable and smart city, the government must offer incentives to companies that are involved in developing green technologies and energy efficiency.
Nusantara Smart City technology offers a solution to the challenges of building sustainable cities of the future. With collaboration between the government, the private sector, and society, IKN is expected to be a model for other cities worldwide, further strengthening Indonesia’s position as a leader in technological innovation and sustainability.
