Jakarta, INTI - At the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Summit (AIIS) 2024, part of the largest B2B technology exhibition in Indonesia, the Indonesia Technology and Innovation (INTI) 2024, a crucial issue highlighted was the collaboration between the public and private sectors in developing the AI ecosystem in Indonesia. Firlie H. Ganinduto, Vice Chair of Communication and Informatics at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), shared his views on the strategic needs required to accelerate the adoption of AI technology in the country.

According to Firlie, collaboration between the government, academia, and the private sector is key to creating a resilient and innovative AI ecosystem. One initiative he highlighted was the importance of establishing a national AI research and innovation center, which will facilitate access to advanced computing infrastructure, open datasets, and AI tools necessary for research and development. This center is expected to serve as a platform for synergy between universities and technology companies in supporting AI research and creating AI career paths for the younger generation.

Firlie also emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation in developing AI human resources (HR). Partnership programs between universities and technology companies are expected to provide funding for research projects, scholarships for students, and training programs to develop AI skills. This step is deemed crucial to ensure that Indonesia not only becomes a consumer of AI technology but also a producer and innovator in this field.

Another challenge faced in AI development in Indonesia is the issue of fairness and responsibility in the application of this technology. Firlie advocated for the development of policies and guidelines that ensure AI technology is developed with principles of fairness and social responsibility, so it can be accessible to all layers of society and used ethically.

Furthermore, Firlie discussed the importance of investing in AI infrastructure, such as data centers and cloud computing, which will form the main foundation for implementing AI technology across various sectors. With a continually growing market potential, Indonesia has a great opportunity to develop this industry, provided it is supported by favorable policies and strong collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Ultimately, through strong collaboration and joint commitment, Indonesia can build a globally competitive AI ecosystem capable of driving significant digital economic growth
