President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Depart for Germany to Attend Hannover Messe 2023

INTI,- President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo are heading to Hannover, Germany on Saturday, April 15, 2023, to attend the Hannover Messe 2023, the world's largest industrial fair. Indonesia is the first ASEAN country to become an official partner country of the event.

One of the main purposes of the visit is to attend the Hannover Messe, where Indonesia is a partner country with the theme of "Making Indonesia 4.0". "This morning, the First Lady, a limited delegation, and I will depart for Hannover, Germany. Indonesia is a partner country at the Hannover Messe 2023," said President Jokowi before takeoff at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten.

President Jokowi will officially open the Hannover Messe along with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Apart from attending the event, President Jokowi is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Chancellor Scholz and meet with some of Germany's leading entrepreneurs. The President mentioned that Germany is an important trade partner for Indonesia in Europe. "Germany is Indonesia's largest trading and investment partner in Europe and the fourth-largest investor in the European region," he added.

The President and his entourage will be using the Presidential aircraft GIA-1 for the flight to Germany. The President is expected to return to Indonesia on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. The delegation accompanying the President and First Lady on the flight to Germany includes Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, Presidential Military Secretary Laksda TNI Hersan, Director-General of Protocol and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Head of National Protocol Andi Rachmianto, Commander of Paspampres Rafael Granada Baay, and Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin.

At Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and his wife Wury Ma'ruf Amin, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Admiral Yudo Margono, Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar were present to bid farewell to the President and First Lady.

This visit to Germany is expected to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Germany, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and technology cooperation. The participation of Indonesia as a partner country in Hannover Messe 2023 will also provide an opportunity for Indonesia to showcase its industrial capabilities and attract foreign investment.
