INTI- Sumbawa Barat, NTB, June 20, 2023 - President Joko Widodo emphasized the need for industry integration as a crucial aspect of downstream industrial development across various regions in Indonesia. The President made this statement during his visit to the smelter construction site of PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) in Sumbawa Barat, West Nusa Tenggara Province, on Tuesday.
During the visit, President Widodo stressed that Indonesia has the opportunity to leap forward and become an advanced nation if it can integrate all smelters and industries scattered throughout the country, whether in the west, east, or central regions.
"It is the state's duty to ensure that integration takes place," stated the President.
Previously, President Widodo urged the integration of downstream products from the smelters to create finished goods within a larger ecosystem, such as the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. He believes that such integration will drive Indonesia's progress towards becoming an advanced nation.
"As I have often mentioned, lithium batteries, EV batteries, and what will they become? Electric vehicles. If that happens, it will be the culmination of the large ecosystem we have built. It will propel us from a developing country to an advanced nation," explained the President.
Accompanying the President during the inspection were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Zulkieflimansyah, President Commissioner of PT AMNT Hilmi Panigoro, and President Director of PT AMNT Rachmat Makkasau. ***.Hans
