President Joko Widodo Highlights Indonesia's Investment Opportunities at Hannover Messe 2023
INTI,- Indonesia has been making headlines at the Hannover Messe 2023 as one of the largest industrial exhibition partners in Europe this year. On Sunday night, during the opening ceremony held at the Hannover Congress Centrum, President Joko Widodo took the stage to emphasize Indonesia's openness to investment and cooperation, particularly in the field of green industries.
The president announced that Indonesia has projected a total investment value of USD 545.3 billion in its roadmap for downstream industries. He added that Indonesia has also been actively pursuing its commitment to environmental sustainability through a number of initiatives. For instance, deforestation rates have significantly dropped to their lowest level in 20 years, while forest fires have decreased by 88 percent.
Furthermore, President Jokowi revealed that Indonesia is set to complete the rehabilitation of 600,000 hectares of mangrove forests by 2024, and has developed 30,000 hectares of green industrial parks. The country is also targeting 23 percent of energy production from renewable energy sources by 2025, and is planning to close all coal-fired power plants by 2050.
