Penajam Paser Utara, INTI – On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, President Joko Widodo officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nusantara Sustainability Hub in the future capital city of Nusantara, located in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan. During his address, the President expressed his confidence that the transition to a green economy will significantly enhance air quality in the new capital, aiming for an excellent air quality index.

“We don’t know when it will stop, but eventually, combustion vehicles will not be allowed in Nusantara. This decision will be made by the Head of the Authority. Only electric vehicles will be present in the capital city of Nusantara. We truly hope the air quality in Nusantara will be below 20,” he added.

President Widodo also reiterated that investing in Nusantara is an investment in the future, particularly in the development of a green economy. He praised the establishment of the Nusantara Sustainability Hub as a collaborative effort by PT Pertamina, PT Bakrie, and other companies.

“This initiative will attract other companies and universities to collaborate here, making it a showcase for our country’s research and the development of new economies, especially the green economy,” the President stated.

The groundbreaking marks the beginning of the construction of the Nusantara Sustainability Hub, which is expected to become a center for innovation and the development of the green economy in Indonesia.

Accompanying the President at the event were State Secretary Minister Pratikno, Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Public Works and Public Housing Minister and Acting Head of the Nusantara Authority Basuki Hadimuljono, Deputy Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Deputy Head of the National Land Agency and Acting Deputy Head of the Nusantara Authority Raja Juli Antoni, Nusantara Curator Ridwan Kamil, East Kalimantan Acting Governor Akmal Malik, Penajam Paser Utara Acting Regent Makmur Marbun, Pertamina CEO Nicke Widyawati, and Bakrie Group CEO Anindya Novyan Bakrie.
