The Importance of Overcoming the Negative Challenges of Internet Use
In an increasingly connected digital era, irresponsible internet use can pose various negative challenges. According to data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), in 2023, the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 210 million, a 15% increase from the previous year. This growth brings along challenges such as rising cases of cyberbullying, the spread of fake news (hoaxes), and cybercrime.
Domestic Industry Capabilities in Addressing Challenges
The internet service provider industry in Indonesia continues to develop to address these challenges. APJII data shows that investment in cybersecurity infrastructure increased by 30% in 2023, focusing on enhancing network capacity and expanding service coverage to remote areas. With these capabilities, the domestic industry is expected to support the security and comfort of internet use in Indonesia.
Anticipated Panel Discussion
In this panel session, the speakers will discuss several important topics related to the negative challenges of internet use and how to overcome them, including:
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite many opportunities in developing domestic cybersecurity infrastructure, there are still some challenges to overcome. One of them is the significant investment required to build adequate infrastructure. Additionally, enhancing the skills of the workforce is also an important factor in supporting the growth of this industry. However, with strong policy support and good collaboration between the government and industry, Indonesia has great potential to become a major player in the global cybersecurity industry.
