Badung, INTI – The bilateral meeting between the Minister of Communications and Informatics (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi and the Egyptian Delegation during the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) at Pecatu Hall, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, has become a major highlight in efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries. This meeting is considered a pivotal moment to establish strategic cooperation in the field of technology and digitalization, which can bring significant benefits to both Indonesia and Egypt.

Minister Budi Arie, in a Press Conference at the Media Center of HLF-MSP and the 2nd IAF on Sunday (01/09/2024), emphasized that this meeting aims to explore opportunities for cooperation in various aspects of digitalization that can support economic transformation in both countries. "This meeting is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and develop strategic cooperation in the field of technology and digitalization," he stated.

Realizing Digital Transformation through Collaboration

Digital transformation is a crucial step being pursued by many countries worldwide, including Indonesia and Egypt. In this meeting, both delegations will discuss how digitalization can become a catalyst in driving economic progress and social development in their respective countries. Menkominfo Budi Arie explained that the discussions will cover various aspects, from equal access to the internet to the development of digital infrastructure that can support inclusive economic growth.

“One of the key points we will share with Egypt is about digitalization, including equal internet access and how digitalization can boost economic leaps and national progress. And certainly, we want to achieve Indonesia's advancement,” said Minister Budi Arie.

Indonesia's experience in building a broad and equitable internet network across the country, including in remote areas, will be a main topic of discussion. This is highly relevant for Egypt, which is also striving to improve internet access nationwide. Additionally, Indonesia will share its experience in developing start-ups and a digital ecosystem that has become the backbone of the national digital economy.

Potential Cooperation in Innovative Technology

In addition to discussing equal internet access, this meeting will also explore potential cooperation in innovative technology that can support economic growth in both countries. Menkominfo Budi Arie revealed that technologies such as smart cities, cybersecurity, and digital applications in the health and education sectors are the main focus of this bilateral discussion.

"We hope this meeting will result in more intensive communication and discussions, covering substantive matters," he said.

With great potential in the field of technology, Indonesia and Egypt have the opportunity to collaborate in developing technological solutions that can be applied in various sectors. This cooperation is expected not only to enhance the competitiveness of both countries in the global market but also to provide direct benefits to the people in both countries.

Strengthening Relations with African Countries

In the context of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum, this meeting also becomes part of Indonesia's efforts to strengthen relations with African countries. Digital transformation, which is an important agenda in this forum, is expected to serve as a bridge to enhance economic and social cooperation between Indonesia and African countries.

"This is an opportunity to build closer relations and together achieve progress and prosperity," said Menkominfo.

With a spirit of collaboration, Indonesia is committed to supporting African countries in facing the challenges of digitalization, particularly in improving access to information and technology. This cooperation is expected to bring long-term benefits for both parties, in terms of enhancing welfare and creating an inclusive digital ecosystem.

Indonesia's Commitment to Enhancing Technology Access

Minister Budi Arie also emphasized Indonesia's commitment to improving technology and information access as part of efforts to advance Indonesian society. According to him, strong international cooperation is key to facing global challenges and creating a more advanced and prosperous society.

"Given the shared history when African countries declared independence, we are committed to improving information and technology access to advance Indonesian society and to fostering beneficial international cooperation," he explained.

With this meeting, Indonesia hopes to open a new chapter in international cooperation focusing on technology and digitalization, which will bring great benefits to all involved parties.
