Jakarta, INTI – During a seminar at the Indonesia Technology and Innovation (INTI 2024) event, National Police Commissioner General Ratno Kuncoro delivered a keynote address on the pressing challenges of cybersecurity in today's digital era. His speech emphasized the significant role of the National Police (Polri) in maintaining public order and security, especially amidst the rapid advancements in technology.

Cyber Threats and National Security

Commissioner Ratno Kuncoro highlighted the growing threats of cybercrime and its impact on national security. "Cyber threats are a serious concern for us today. They are not just targeting individuals or organizations, but have the potential to disrupt national security," he stated. He mentioned that Polri is actively working to address various forms of cyber threats, including Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) that can infiltrate critical infrastructures.

He further elaborated on Polri's strategy to combat these threats, which involves strengthening cybersecurity defenses through enhanced technology and human resources. "We are continuously improving our capabilities to detect and respond to cyber threats more effectively," he added.

International Cooperation and Stronger Regulations

Ratno Kuncoro also underscored the importance of international cooperation in enhancing Indonesia's cyber defense. "Cyber threats are global, and therefore, international cooperation is crucial. We must learn from other countries that have more advanced cybersecurity measures," he remarked.

He pointed out the need for robust regulations to address cyber threats. According to him, the current regulations need to be updated and strengthened to keep pace with the rapid technological developments. "Clear and firm regulations are vital to ensuring that cybersecurity in Indonesia is well maintained," he emphasized.

The Importance of Collaboration and Public Awareness

In addition to government and law enforcement efforts, Ratno Kuncoro stressed the importance of collaboration with the private sector and the wider community in facing cyber threats. "We cannot work alone. Close collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the public is needed to build strong cyber resilience," he said.

He also reminded that public awareness of cyber threats needs to be heightened. According to him, education on cybersecurity should be a priority so that people can be more vigilant against potential threats. "Public awareness and vigilance are the first lines of defense against cyber threats. Therefore, cybersecurity education is crucial," he added.

Ratno Kuncoro urged all layers of society to actively participate in maintaining cybersecurity. "Every individual has a vital role in maintaining cybersecurity. From simple actions like using strong passwords to reporting suspicious activities, all of these can help prevent cybercrimes," he explained.

Polri and Public Order Challenges in the Digital Era

In conclusion, Ratno Kuncoro affirmed that Polri remains committed to maintaining public order and security in this digital age. "The challenges we face today may differ from those in the past, but Polri's commitment to maintaining public order remains the same. We will continue to adapt to the times and ensure that Indonesia remains safe and peaceful," he concluded.

As technology continues to evolve, the challenges faced by Polri in maintaining public order also become more complex. However, with the right strategies, strong collaboration, and high public awareness, Ratno Kuncoro is confident that Indonesia can effectively address cyber threats.
