Yogyakarta, INTI – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) emphasizes the importance of compliance among radio frequency spectrum (SFR) users with existing regulations to ensure smooth communication and public safety. At the event "Socialization of Orderly Use of Radio Frequency Spectrum to Avoid Administrative Penalties" held in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics, Nezar Patria, highlighted the urgency of this compliance to prevent communication disruptions that could endanger public safety.

"Compliance with regulations ensures public safety from uncontrolled use of radio frequencies," stated Nezar Patria. He cited examples of SFR disturbances in aviation caused by illegal frequency use by irresponsible parties. "Suddenly, the pilot hears dangdut music, disrupting communication between the Air Traffic Controller and the aircraft," he said, emphasizing the dangers of frequency non-compliance for flight safety.

Currently, there are several types of violations of radio frequency spectrum regulations, including using radio frequencies without a license, exceeding the permitted transmission power, not complying with technical parameters and purposes, and operating uncertified telecommunications equipment. According to Deputy Minister Nezar Patria, the Ministry of Kominfo imposes sanctions for these violations in the form of fines, license revocation, confiscation of telecommunications equipment, and service termination. "The imposition of fines aims to deter violators and encourage compliance with radio frequency usage regulations," he said.

These regulations also aim to prevent monopolistic practices and ensure all business actors have equal opportunities to access radio frequencies. “I hope everyone can maintain orderly and compliant use of radio frequencies,” he added.

At the socialization event organized by the Class I Yogyakarta Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Center of the Directorate General of Resources and Post and Informatics Devices of the Ministry of Kominfo, Deputy Minister Nezar Patria also presented awards to several parties who have complied with the regulations well. The awards were given to LPP TVRI Yogyakarta as the Most Compliant Television Broadcasting Frequency User of 2024, LPP RRI Surakarta PRO I 105.5 FM as the Most Compliant FM Broadcasting Frequency User of 2024, and Sleman Regency Government as the Most Compliant Concession Frequency User of 2024.
