Jakarta, INTI - The establishment of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) in the Red and White Cabinet is a timely response to the rapid development of technology and digitalization in Indonesia. Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Komdigi is committed to accelerating digitalization across various sectors, including government.

Minister of Komdigi Meutya Hafid stated that over the next 100 days, the government will pay special attention to government digitalization, regulating online gambling, and ensuring equitable internet access. "The President's inaugural speech emphasized the importance of digitalizing various government affairs. This will be our main focus moving forward," she revealed at a press conference at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics office in Central Jakarta on Monday (October 21, 2024).

In this context, Meutya Hafid also emphasized the significance of digital security as one of the priorities for the Ministry of Komdigi. "During my tenure in Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), the issue of digital security received serious attention. We will continue to strive for the protection of citizens' data and privacy," she asserted.

Additionally, the Ministry of Komdigi is committed to continuing the fight against online gambling and illegal online lending that harm the public. "As a woman, I will also focus on creating a child-friendly internet. This includes protecting children from crimes such as human trafficking and child pornography," she added.

One concrete step planned is to enhance internet access in the outermost, frontier, and disadvantaged areas (3T). "We will visit the 3T regions, especially in Eastern Indonesia, to assess connectivity. Currently, we have achieved 98% internet connectivity, but the access speed is not yet uniform. We hope that fast and stable internet can be felt across all regions," Meutya Hafid explained.

With these initiatives, the Ministry of Communication and Digital is expected to optimize digitalization in Indonesia, in line with President Prabowo's vision of creating a more efficient government that responds to the needs of the public.
