Jakarta, INTI - Midea, AIS, China Unicom, and Huawei have joined forces to inaugurate the first fully connected 5G factory in Southeast Asia, marking a groundbreaking advancement in smart manufacturing within the region. This collaboration sets a new benchmark for the utilization of 5G technology in optimizing efficiency, safety, and automation across intricate production processes.

Expanding 5G Network Coverage

Harnessing the extensive 5G network coverage of the Midea Industrial Park in Chonburi and leveraging a 5G+ industrial internet platform, every facet of production is seamlessly interconnected through 5G terminals, facilitating accelerated machine operations. A dedicated 5G private network has been established to support factory operations and deploy intelligent industry applications, seamlessly integrating manufacturing scenarios and production lines.

During a recent visit to the facility, Mr. Vincent Cai, General Manager of Midea Thailand Air Conditioning Factory, underscored the factory's significance as a blueprint for future manufacturing endeavors, aligning with Midea Group's overarching strategy of complete digitalization and intelligence.

Fully-Connected 5G Solutions

Key solutions driving the factory's full 5G connectivity encompass various innovations. Firstly, 5G data collection and analysis enable real-time monitoring and analysis of production devices, optimizing equipment utilization and bolstering overall capacity. Secondly, 5G automated guided vehicles (AGVs) employ dynamic path planning and real-time data analysis to enhance operational efficiency within intricate factory settings. Thirdly, 5G AI inspection elevates production efficiency and reduces rework rates through advanced AI detection.

Moreover, 5G robotic arms, remotely controlled via 5G smartphones, enhance worker safety and streamline the flow of production materials. Additionally, 5G operating rooms facilitate the simulation and testing of outdoor compressors with seamless data transmission. Throughout the initiative, operators have played a pivotal role in steering digital transformation by leveraging 5G technology to achieve heightened efficiency, connectivity, and data security.

AIS and China Unicom are steadfast in their commitment to fostering innovation and aiding manufacturers in establishing smart factories in Thailand. Meanwhile, Huawei remains steadfast in its dedication to industry transformation through collaborative efforts with customers, operators, and partners to unlock the business value of 5G.

The establishment of Southeast Asia's first fully connected 5G factory marks a significant milestone in Thailand's journey towards intelligent transformation and Industry 4.0. It underscores the potency of collaboration and innovation in shaping the future landscape of manufacturing.
