Jakarta, INTI - Global technology company Microsoft has announced its commitment to develop the digital technology ecosystem in Indonesia. Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, stated that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has committed to an investment value of Rp28 trillion.
"The figure has been released; Microsoft is committed to investing USD1.7 billion, or nearly Rp28 trillion, to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud in Indonesia," he said during a Press Conference on the Visit of Microsoft Corp CEO at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Office in Central Jakarta, Tuesday (30/04/2024).
According to Minister Budi Arie, Microsoft's investment commitment is a breath of fresh air for the growth and development of the digital ecosystem, especially AI technology.
"So this is a breath of fresh air for all of us that Indonesia is highly regarded in the global digital ecosystem. The President also conveyed that the government is ready to assist if there are things that need to be helped regarding Microsoft's investment plans in Indonesia," he explained.
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology stated that during the meeting at the State Palace, President Joko Widodo proposed to Microsoft's CEO to build a special AI data center in Indonesia.
"Microsoft is developing ODC (Office Data Connection), which is also part of Microsoft's development plan in Indonesia. Regarding the location (construction site), the President has already conveyed, whether it will be in Bali or in IKN. For IKN, it is important, especially to support Smart City," he said.
Previously, Minister Budi Arie accompanied President Joko Widodo in receiving a visit from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the State Palace, Central Jakarta. Subsequently, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology attended the Microsoft Build AI Day at the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan, Central Jakarta.
During the press conference, Minister Budi Arie was accompanied by the Director General of Public Information and Communication, Usman Kansong, Minister's Special Staff Sugiharto, and Widodo Muktiyo.
