Jakarta, INTI - East Kalimantan, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination (Menko Marves) Luhut B. Pandjaitan is optimistic that the development of the new capital city (IKN) in East Kalimantan will reach around 80% by August. He conveyed this after directly reviewing the progress of the IKN construction on Tuesday (07/05/2024).
"So, we along with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and the related team have inspected it. There may still be some pending issues and various technical aspects to discuss. However, we have seen that the toll road is almost completed, although there are still a few sections that need improvement. But I think that's just part of the process, and we can achieve about 80% completion by August," said Minister Luhut at the location.
Regarding this progress, Minister Luhut hopes that the Independence Day ceremony on August 17 can indeed be held at the IKN.
"We hope that on August 17, the ceremony can be held here, and not only the toll road but other aspects are also progressing well. For example, the airport will be operational, accommodating three aircraft by August 17. But overall, everything will be completed in about a year," he explained.
The locations inspected by Minister Luhut include the IKN Access Toll Road segment 5A, IKN Logistics Dock, VVIP Airport, National Palace, Parade Ground, Seremonial Plaza, and the Coordinating Ministry Office.
In addition to the inspection, Minister Luhut also held a meeting with Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki regarding the future progress of IKN development.
