Jakarta, INTI – Rapid digital transformation has become a crucial pillar in Indonesia's economic development. To strengthen the national digital ecosystem, Indonesia will host the Indonesia Internet Expo & Summit (IIXS) on August 12, 2024, at Jakarta International Expo (JI-EXPO). One of the most anticipated moments of the event is the keynote speech by Muhammad Arif, Chairman of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII). He will present a crucial topic titled "Towards Golden Indonesia Digital Vision 2045: Synergy of Business, Regulation, and Technology Advancement."

Profile of Muhammad Arif

Muhammad Arif is a well-known figure in the technology and internet sectors in Indonesia. As Chairman of APJII, he has significantly contributed to developing internet infrastructure and advancing the country's digital industry. Under his leadership, APJII continues to promote innovation and collaboration among various stakeholders to create an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem.

Golden Digital Vision 2045

In his keynote, Muhammad Arif will outline the strategies and steps needed to realize Indonesia's digital vision for 2045. This vision aims to achieve deeper integration of technology into various aspects of society and ensure that Indonesia can compete on the global stage. "Indonesia has great potential to become a leading player in the global digital economy. To achieve this, we need to ensure that the business sector, government policies, and technological innovation work in harmony," said Arif.

Key Focus Areas of the Keynote

Muhammad Arif will highlight several key focus areas essential for realizing this digital vision:

  1. Enhancing Digital Infrastructure: Ensuring equal internet access across Indonesia is a top priority. Recent data from APJII shows that in 2023, internet penetration in Indonesia reached 77.02%, but there are still gaps in access in remote areas.
  2. Innovation-Supportive Regulation: Updating regulations to keep pace with technological developments. Arif hopes the government will continue to update policies to create a business environment that supports innovation.
  3. Developing Digital Human Resources: Focusing on training and enhancing competencies in information and communication technology. This involves expanding training and certification programs to improve the skills of the digital workforce in Indonesia.

Challenges and Opportunities in the Digital Era

In his speech, Arif will also address the significant challenges Indonesia faces in achieving its golden digital vision, including uneven infrastructure and digital divides across various regions. However, he will emphasize the substantial opportunities, such as the large potential digital market among the young population and the increasing investments in the technology sector.

According to a report by We Are Social and Hootsuite, as of early 2024, the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 205 million, an increase of 7.5% compared to the previous year. The value of e-commerce transactions in Indonesia also reached USD 53.8 billion in 2023, demonstrating the vast potential for digital economic growth in the country.
