Jakarta, INTI - The transformation of Industry 4.0 has initiated significant changes in the adaptation of digital technology usage in the manufacturing sector. Accelerating digital transformation has been chosen as one of the strategies to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the national manufacturing industry, making it more sustainable, flexible, and efficient.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that the most crucial component in the digital transformation process is the awareness of the benefits of using digital equipment. "It's not just about the ability to adopt technology but also aligning it with a digital mindset shift," he said in a written statement on Wednesday (10/7).

One application of Industry 4.0 that supports digital transformation is the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) based on data in the manufacturing industry. Data-driven manufacturing (DDM) is an approach that utilizes data and analytics to improve decision-making and optimize operations. This approach involves collecting data from various sources, such as sensors, machines, and humans, and then using that data to identify trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities.

"The Internet of Things (IoT) and the application of big data and analytics have led to the creation of the next generation of manufacturing. This involves using data to generate resource efficiency in the manufacturing industry," said the Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry, Masrokhan.

He also added that using data in Industry 4.0 can reduce company expenses through new era sales and operations planning, productivity enhancement, supply chain and distribution optimization, and new types of after-sales services.

The Indonesia Digital Industry Center 4.0 (PIDI 4.0)

To support this transformation, the Ministry of Industry has established the Indonesia Digital Industry Center 4.0 (PIDI 4.0) as a one-stop solution for implementing Industry 4.0 in Indonesia. Currently, PIDI 4.0 has partners from national and international industries, academic institutions, associations, government agencies outside the Ministry of Industry, and various other stakeholders.

"PIDI 4.0 is part of one of the national priority programs, Making Indonesia 4.0. PIDI 4.0 was built with the vision of becoming a one-stop solution for adopting Industry 4.0 in Indonesia and becoming the window of Indonesia 4.0 to the world," continued Masrokhan.

In an effort to raise awareness among industrial companies about the growing DDM and their desire to enhance knowledge and awareness related to Industry 4.0 implementation, PIDI 4.0 is organizing a Collaborative Program Socialization event with Industry 4.0 partners through a seminar themed "Data Driven Process Improvement & Resources Efficiency in Manufacturing."

Through this seminar, PIDI 4.0 socializes collaborative programs and activities with Industry 4.0 stakeholders and opens itself to ideas or opportunities to support the success of Industry 4.0 transformation in Indonesia, both through national and global cooperation.

Enhancing Collaboration and Resource Efficiency

"Hopefully, through this event, all parties can expand their networks, enhance collaboration, and boost our spirit and efforts to collaborate in achieving improvements and resource efficiency in the manufacturing industry to drive economic growth in Indonesia," said BPSDMI Secretary, Jonni Afrizon.

The seminar discussed PIDI 4.0 Collaborative Programs related to Showcase, Ecosystem, and AI & Engineering. The second session covered PIDI 4.0 Collaborative Programs related to Delivery and Capability.
