Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo Highlights the Country’s Potential for Renewable Energy at Hannover Messe 2023 Business Summit

INTI,- During the opening speech of the Hannover Messe 2023 business summit, President Joko Widodo highlighted Indonesia's huge potential in renewable energy. He stated that Indonesia has the potential to reach up to 434 GW of renewable energy capacity. However, to achieve this goal, Indonesia requires innovative financing support, high-tech technology transfer, and re-skilling of its workforce.

President Widodo emphasized the importance of transitioning towards renewable energy as a key strategy to address climate change and to achieve sustainable economic growth. He stated that Indonesia is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 and that the development of renewable energy is a critical component of this goal.

To accelerate the development of renewable energy in Indonesia, President Widodo called for increased collaboration and partnerships with international stakeholders. He stressed the need for innovative financing mechanisms, such as green bonds and blended finance, to support the growth of renewable energy projects.

In addition to financing, President Widodo emphasized the importance of technology transfer to support the development of renewable energy in Indonesia. He called on international partners to share their expertise and knowledge to support the development of renewable energy projects in Indonesia.

Finally, President Widodo highlighted the need for re-skilling and up-skilling of the Indonesian workforce to support the growth of the renewable energy sector. He called for increased investment in training and education programs to equip the Indonesian workforce with the skills needed to support the growth of the renewable energy industry.

The Hannover Messe 2023 business summit provides a platform for international stakeholders to collaborate and support the development of renewable energy in Indonesia.
