Jakarta, INTI - During the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Meeting in Paris on May 2nd, Minister of Economic Affairs Coordination Airlangga Hartarto met with the Dutch delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Karien Van Gennip, who also serves as the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment. The ministers discussed several strategic issues and cooperation between the two countries, at bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels.

Representing the Indonesian Government, Minister Airlangga appreciated the strong support from the Netherlands for Indonesia's accession process to the OECD. Indonesia's membership in the OECD is a strategic priority for the Government to achieve the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. The Indonesian Government is committed to fulfilling all membership requirements. The Dutch Deputy PM expressed appreciation for this commitment and expressed readiness to support Indonesia's accession to the OECD. "The Netherlands is committed to continuously supporting Indonesia's efforts and steps in the OECD membership process. We can also share experiences and best practices in domestic structural reforms," said Deputy PM Van Gennip.

In discussing the developments of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations, both ministers agreed that CEPA is a game-changer in efforts to enhance trade and investment relations between Indonesia and the European Union (EU). Therefore, there is a need for an acceleration in the negotiation process. "Breakthrough steps are needed to accelerate the completion of negotiations that have been ongoing for eight years," expressed Minister Airlangga.

The meeting also explored several potential areas of cooperation. Minister Airlangga highlighted the potential cooperation with the Netherlands in the strategic Giant Sea Wall development project on the northern coast of Java, which was warmly welcomed by Deputy PM Van Gennip. "The Netherlands has extensive experience in building dams and levees. We are happy to contribute to this strategic project," responded Deputy PM Van Gennip.

Additionally, discussions touched on other areas of cooperation, such as the follow-up implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and the progress of cooperation in the financial sector.

Attending this meeting were the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Trade, the Indonesian Ambassador to Paris, the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and the Deputy for International Economic Cooperation of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.
