Jakarta, INTI – The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has successfully hosted a business forum as part of the POWER Uzbekistan 2024 exhibition, opening doors for comprehensive business collaborations between Indonesian and Uzbekistani industrial players. This strategic event also facilitated networking among companies and showcased Indonesia's potential as an attractive investment destination.
"The Indonesian government is actively exploring international trade cooperation with several countries, particularly those in Central Asia and Eurasia," stated Priyadi Arie Nugroho, Director of Electronics and Telematics Industry (IET) at the Ministry of Industry, in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday, May 17.
According to Priyadi, Uzbekistan, with a population exceeding 35 million, plays a significant role in Central Asia and Eurasia, making it a vital partner for expanding industrial and trade cooperation with Indonesia.
"Since Central Asia is a non-traditional market, participating in trade exhibitions, business forums, and other export promotion activities in this region can help expand Indonesia's flagship products," he added.
The business forum was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Industry and the Indonesian Embassy in Tashkent. The Director of IET delivered the keynote speech, while Elmuratov Oybek, Deputy Director of the Investment and Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, gave remarks on behalf of Uzbekistan.
Also present was the Indonesian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Sunaryo Kartadinata. He noted that Indonesia has long regarded Uzbekistan as a key country in Central Asia, with a strategic role as a hub for regional and international trade.
The business forum featured discussions with several speakers from Indonesian businesses, including representatives from PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia, PT Rainbow Tubulars Manufacture, and Indonesia Pomalaa Industry Park.
Additionally, Khasanov Sobir from the Foreign Investment Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with various Uzbek business representatives from diverse industrial and trade sectors, participated in the forum.
"In addition to discussing potential cooperation and business development, Indonesian and Uzbekistani entrepreneurs were given the opportunity for business networking," Priyadi stated. This session facilitated one-on-one meetings between participants. They were also given time to visit the Indonesian co-exhibitor booths to explore partnership potentials, collaborations, and investment opportunities.
At POWER Uzbekistan 2024, the Ministry of Industry and the Indonesian Embassy in Tashkent collaborated to set up the Indonesian Pavilion, showcasing the capabilities of seven Indonesian businesses from various sectors, including electronics and telematics, oil and gas pipeline industries, measuring instrument industries, and industrial parks.
The seven Indonesian participants showcased at the prestigious event were PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia, PT Communication Cable Systems Indonesia, PT Sinar Baja Elektrik, Bandung Techno Park, PT Rainbow Tubulars Manufacture, PT 3S International, and PT Indonesia Pomalaa Industry Park.
