Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Industry continues to push for the development of the healthcare equipment industry to enhance its global competitiveness. Healthcare equipment is a key sector in Indonesia's National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) and is also a priority sector in the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap.

Currently, the domestic healthcare equipment industry is supported by 209 companies affiliated with the Indonesian Medical Device Manufacturers Association (ASPAKI). These companies have been able to produce quality healthcare equipment such as ventilators (with a Domestic Component Level reaching 58 percent), hospital furniture (68 percent DCL), and medical apparel (92 percent DCL).

"With such capabilities, we also strive to open and expand export market access for the domestic healthcare equipment industry," said Yan Sibarang Tandiele, Director of Machinery and Agricultural Machinery Industry at the Ministry of Industry, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/5).

To enter the European and Middle Eastern markets, some time ago, the Ministry of Industry, together with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Ankara, Turkey, held the Business Forum on Enhancing the Collaboration of Indonesia – Turkey Medical Device Industry in Istanbul, Turkey. Through this business forum, cooperation between Indonesian and Turkish healthcare equipment industries is expected to be established.

"At the business forum, two MoUs were signed. Firstly, between PT Haloni Jane Tbk and ERK Medikal Saglik Hizmetleri, which collaborated in a distributor agreement for Latex Gloves supply with a potential transaction value of USD9 million," Yan explained.

The second MoU was between PT Atra Widiya Agung and Uzman Sterilization System. These two companies will collaborate in distributing container system sales and fabrication in Indonesia from 2024 to 2027, with a cooperation value of USD1.5 million.

Special Staff to the Minister of Industry and Ministry of Industry Spokesperson, Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, who also attended the business forum, conveyed that the metal, machinery, transportation equipment, and electronics (ILMATE) sector is growing rapidly at 12.09 percent. This reflects that the business and investment climate in Indonesia is healthy.

"Therefore, we actively promote beneficial cooperation between the Indonesian healthcare equipment industry and Turkey, whether in distribution, R&D, or investment," he said.

The exhibition and business forum activities at EXPOMED EUROSIA 2024 are a manifestation of cooperation between the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Health, the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, the Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul, the Indonesian Medical Device Manufacturers Association (ASPAKI), and the Association of Healthcare Equipment and Laboratory Entrepreneurs (GAKESLAB).

Nine domestic healthcare equipment companies, two industry associations (ASPAKI and GAKESLAB), and PT. Inspiry Indonesia Consultants participated in EXPOMED EUROSIA 2024. The nine companies are PT Sugih Instrumendo Abadi with stethoscope and sphygmomanometer products, PT Marthys Orthopaedic Indonesia with orthopedic implant products, and PT Rejeki Putra Putri Eliman with adult diapers, underpads, and nurse caps.

Furthermore, PT Cahaya Hasil Cemerlang Multi Manufaktur with baby scale, standing weight, and infantometer products, PT Haloni Jane Tbk with medical glove products, PT Oneject Indonesia with syringe and blood tube products, PT Prodia Diagnostic Line with clinical chemical reagent products, PT Graha Teknomedika with surgical instrument and patient monitor products, and PT Kusuma Sukses Makmur with surgical clothing, PPE, and body bag products.
