Jakarta, INTI – The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) has entered into a partnership with the UK Government's Chevening Scholarship Program to develop human resources in the digital sector. Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics, Nezar Patria, emphasized that providing overseas scholarship programs for young Indonesian talents is an investment in cultivating superior digital talent.

"Since 2007, we have been committed to investing in education, including supporting scholarships for 91 recipients to study in the UK, seven of whom have been funded through the Chevening Program," stated Nezar Patria during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Kominfo-Chevening Scholarship at the British Embassy in South Jakarta on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria hopes that this partnership will result in significant progress by creating more opportunities for Indonesians to pursue master's degree programs abroad.

"The signing of this MoU aims to expand the scope of the existing scholarship programs at Kominfo. We hope this will be a significant collaboration for enhancing our top digital talents in the future," he expressed.

According to the Deputy Minister, the Chevening Scholarship Program is highly competitive.

"In my own experience, about three thousand people applied, and only 36 were accepted. It is very competitive, but never give up. Keep trying," he encouraged.

The MoU was signed by the Head of Human Resource Development Agency at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Hary Budiarto, and the Head of Economic and Digital Affairs at the British Embassy in Jakarta, Samuel Hayes.

The Head of HR Development at Kominfo stated that the Kominfo-Chevening Scholarship Program is designed to prepare individuals with rapidly advancing digital skills and knowledge.

"We hope this collaboration will produce outstanding digital talents who achieve great success and bring honor to our nation," remarked Hary Budiarto.

Each year, the Kominfo-Chevening Scholarship will provide opportunities for five exceptional individuals from Indonesia. The funding covers tuition fees, including exams and thesis costs, monthly living expenses, and travel expenses to and from the host country.

"These scholarship recipients will not only contribute to our nation's digital ecosystem but also represent the strength and potential of our human resources on the global stage," hoped Hary Budiarto
