Moscow, INTI – On his second day of official visit, Tuesday (11/6), Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, held a special meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, H.E. Dmitry Medvedev. The meeting took place at Medvedev’s official residence in the outskirts of Moscow (State Residence Gorky 9 Odintsovo, Moscow). Medvedev, who served as President of Russia from 2008 to 2012 and Prime Minister from 2012 to 2020, is currently the Chairman of the United Russia party.
Welcoming Minister Airlangga to his residence, Medvedev emphasized the significant role Indonesia plays for Russia. “Indonesia is Russia's main and largest partner in the Asia-Pacific region,” Medvedev stated.
Medvedev expressed his pleasure at the meeting, hoping to discuss various collaborations and global issues that ensure world security. “We are pleased to develop this component in our contacts. Let's discuss cooperation to address global issues, issues that ensure the security of our planet. This meeting is an excellent opportunity to establish contacts for the development of multifaceted relations between our countries,” Medvedev explained.
Minister Airlangga thanked Medvedev for the warm reception and highlighted the strong cooperation with Russia. “Russia is one of Indonesia's largest economic partners. We want to continue our cooperation and hope to develop it further to achieve greater mutual understanding,” he asserted.
The 74th anniversary of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia is seen as an essential milestone to strengthen economic cooperation, particularly in trade, industry, and investment sectors between the two countries. “Indonesia welcomes this meeting as part of efforts to improve relations between Indonesia and Russia in the future,” Airlangga remarked.
During the meeting, Minister Airlangga shared views on various global and strategic issues, including global geopolitical issues and positive dynamics in both countries.
Minister Airlangga was accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to Moscow, Jose Tavares, and experts from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. Medvedev was joined by several high-ranking officials from the Russian Government.
