Jakarta, INTI – The global demand for telecommunications and communication products is booming, driven by the rapid growth of digital technology services. Essential products such as smartphones, laptops, cables, and digital applications have become fundamental needs for both industries and the general public.

“The Ministry of Industry is committed to advancing a competitive ICT industry. One of our strategic steps is to facilitate the promotion of the capabilities of national electronic and telematics industries in the international market,” stated Priyadi Arie Nugroho, Director of Electronics and Telematics Industry at the Ministry of Industry, during a press conference in Jakarta on Sunday, June 2.

As part of this effort, the Ministry of Industry is participating in CommunicAsia 2024 in Singapore, in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore. This international event aims to showcase the capabilities of Indonesia’s electronic and telematics sectors, bridging these industries with the global supply chain.

At this prestigious event, the Ministry is presenting 11 companies to showcase their products and technologies, including fiber optic cables, IoT solutions, laptops, CCTV systems, and digital solutions.

“At CommunicAsia 2024, we are also facilitating a business forum themed 'The Role of ICT Industry in Indonesia’s Digital Transformation,'” said Priyadi. The forum was inaugurated by the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, and attended by over 100 participants from ASEAN and other countries.

The business forum serves to inform visitors and co-exhibitors about the strengths and services offered by the Indonesian ICT industry. Key presentations include "Capabilities and Demand of Internet Service in Indonesia" by the Chairman of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association, "Capabilities of Indonesian Industry to Supply Global Submarine Fiber Optic Cable Demand" by PT Communication Cable System Indonesia, and "Communication Technology Solutions in Plantation, Mining, and Rural Areas" by PT Mitra Akses Globalindo.

During the event, the Ministry of Industry highlighted the development policies for the industry through a combination of fiscal and non-fiscal measures. Fiscal policies include tax holidays, tax allowances, and super tax deductions as strategies to encourage investment, technology acquisition, and industrial structure strengthening. Non-fiscal policies involve facilitating the participation of industrial companies in international exhibitions.

The Ministry of Industry expressed its appreciation to the domestic industries participating in CommunicAsia 2024. Priyadi emphasized that Indonesian industrial products comply with international standards and quality, making them competitive on the global stage. This is evidenced by the consistent high export values of industrial products, which contribute significantly to overall export revenues.

In 2023, exports of electronic and telematics products reached USD 9.09 billion, primarily from home appliances and telecommunications equipment. “We continuously strive to expand export market access for national industries, particularly to potential export markets in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa,” Priyadi added.

CommunicAsia 2024 offers an opportunity for the 11 companies supported by the Ministry of Industry to enhance their exports, foster partnerships with industry counterparts, and reinforce Indonesia’s position as a prime investment destination.
