INTI- Moscow, Russia - Demonstrating active participation in the series of events at the Eurasian Economic Forum (EEF), the Indonesian Delegation (Delri) attended the EEF 2023, including various business dialogues with member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). EEF is an annual business event of the Eurasian Union, consisting of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Armenia, and is held alternately in the EAEU member countries. The 2nd EEF of 2023 took place from May 24th to 25th, with the theme "Eurasian Integration in a Multipolar World."
The Eurasian Economic Forum 2023 coincided with the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the four EAEU member states attended the event. Delri participated in the Plenary Session of EEF 2023 on May 24th, which was also attended by the heads of state/government from the five EAEU member countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
President Vladimir Putin stated that the organization of EEF 2023 is highly relevant as it addresses important economic and trade issues faced by the EAEU member states. Russia itself actively collaborates with major international associations such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as multilateral organizations in Latin America and Africa.
"The EAEU is also working hard to expand friendly relations with countries in Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, which constitute the majority of the world's population and can drive global growth. Russia is also striving to create a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) with Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Egypt," President Vladimir Putin expressed.
During the EAEU-Indonesia Business Dialogue, one of the Delri representatives, Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Musdhalifah Machmud, stated that Indonesia has significant potential to export products to the EAEU, including palm oil, rubber, coffee, tea, cocoa, and their derivative products, as well as coconuts, fish products, fruits, and vegetables.
"Therefore, Indonesia opens wide opportunities for economic and trade cooperation with EAEU member countries," said Deputy Musdhalifah.
In the same forum, Rizal Affandi Lukman, Special Staff for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Strengthening International Economic Cooperation, explained that Indonesia is currently focused on developing non-traditional markets for the export of its flagship products, and the Eurasian region is one of the main targets in Eastern Europe.
The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs actively participated in various forums held during the EEF 2023, including the EAEU-Indonesia Business Dialogue, Business Breakfast: EAEU - Indonesia, Indonesia - Belarus Business Forum, Business-to-Business Meetings, and Moscow Export Day 2023. On these occasions, Delri expressed full support for enhancing cooperation between Indonesia and the EAEU member states in various economic and trade sectors.
"Indonesia fully supports the implementation of the Indonesia-EAEU Free Trade Arrangement (FTA) through expediting the negotiation process within two years," stated Rizal.
Overall, the aim of the EEF 2023 events is to enhance cooperation among EAEU member states and strengthen the partnership between Indonesia and the EAEU member states in various economic and trade sectors. ***.Hans
