Indonesia Strengthens Digital Transformation Through Global Company Collaboration

Jakarta, INTI - The opportunity for Indonesia to accelerate its national digital transformation has widened as the government explores partnerships with various global technology companies.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, explained that collaboration with global technology companies enables strengthening in both infrastructure and human resources aspects.

"Collaboration and partnership with Microsoft can greatly assist Indonesia in digital transformation," he explained during a Press Conference on the Visit of Microsoft Corp CEO at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Office in Central Jakarta, Tuesday (30/4/2024).

Minister Budi Arie stated that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced a commitment to invest approximately Rp28 trillion to develop AI and Cloud in Indonesia. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to realize digital transformation in the digital infrastructure aspect.

"The President conveyed to Mr. Satya Nadella that digital transformation is the important link to Indonesia; digital transformation is very important in Indonesia," he said.

Furthermore, Microsoft's investment offer also includes collaboration in developing human resources in the digital field. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology explained that Microsoft plans to build this collaboration over four years to train 840 thousand digital talents specifically in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Indonesia.

"The Ministry has a training program called Digital Talent Scholarship. I have conveyed that after this meeting, we will detail everything with Microsoft because if 840 thousand people in four years, it means we can train the skills of 210 thousand young people per year to master AI technology," he explained.

According to Minister Budi Arie, collaboration with Microsoft will benefit Indonesia by being part of the global digital ecosystem, especially AI, which will be a crucial technology choice in the future.

"Mr. Satya Nadella conveyed to the President that AI can also help the agricultural sector, fisheries, and other sectors. With AI, our natural resources can be used more productively and maximally," he said.

During the press conference, Minister Budi Arie was accompanied by the Director General of Public Information and Communication, Usman Kansong, Minister's Special Staff Sugiharto, and Widodo Muktiyo.
