Jakarta, INTI – The Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) of Indonesia, Nezar Patria, highlighted the application of environmentally friendly digital technology in national development. According to him, the development of the National Data Center (PDN) and the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) are real examples of the Government's commitment to implementing sustainability principles.

"The PDN construction in Cikarang, West Java, has obtained a Green Data Center certification equipped with solar panels, LED lighting, and an evaporative cooling system," he said at the Nusantara Sustainability Trend (Nature) Forum 2024: Embracing Humans and Environment in Harmony, in Central Jakarta, Wednesday (28/02/2024).

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria also stated that the Government is planning to build the IKN as a Smart City. "By adopting the Internet of Things (IoT) in all public services to reduce carbon emissions," he said.

The Deputy Minister explained that the ideals of sustainable development are in line with the philosophical motto of several ethnic groups in Indonesia. One of them is the life principle of the Dayak Tribe, namely "Adil Ka' Talino, Bacuramin Ka' Saruga, Basengat Ka' Jubata" which means Justice to Fellow Humans, Reflecting on Heaven, and the Breath of Life Comes from the Creator.

"Taking inspiration from local wisdom, I invite all of us to continue contributing to maintaining the environment as a living space for us and future generations to grow," he said.

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria invited all stakeholders to start discussing the application of technology in specific industrial sectors that have an impact on climate growth, especially in generating carbon emissions.

"With the upcoming discussion, we hope that the application of environmentally friendly technology can be explored, exploited, and developed to achieve the government's goals in line with sustainable development," he said.

The Deputy Minister appreciated the Nusantara TV initiative to raise environmental awareness in the application of technology. According to him, awarding individuals, institutions, and corporations with sustainability innovations will increase public awareness of the importance of environmental harmony.

"I hope this event is not only an award ceremony but also a momentum to strengthen awareness towards sustainable development," he said.

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria also encouraged the media to play a role in achieving Net Zero Emission by raising public awareness. According to him, journalistic reports on climate change and information on the latest technology applications can provide insights and perspectives to industry players.

"So, I think the media also plays a very important role, besides the media itself also applying the principles of sustainable development that are environmentally friendly," he said.*Hans
