INTI,- The Indonesia-Germany Business Summit held during the Hannover Messe 2023 was a success, attended by around 500 international audiences from various countries, including industry players, policymakers, relevant associations, and general visitors. The event was opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, and the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, who both emphasized the potential for partnership between the two countries.
Chancellor Scholz highlighted that Germany is Indonesia's largest business partner in Europe, with more than 250 German companies having branches in Indonesia. He stated that there are opportunities for partnership related to energy transition, and encouraged the audience to take advantage of the existing opportunities to build new businesses that develop cutting-edge technology, ensuring climate neutrality and prosperity go hand in hand.
APA Chairman and President & CEO of Siemens AG Dr. Roland Busch also acknowledged the potential for a long-term partnership between Germany and Indonesia, stating that Indonesia is the right place to grow, as it provides access to a large and developing market, while Germany can offer high-tech support. This is also one of the reasons why Indonesia was chosen as the official partner country for Hannover Messe 2023.
The Chairman of KADIN Indonesia, M. Arsjad Rasjid P.M, stressed the importance of green technology in supporting economic recovery through digitalization and renewable energy. He believes that by enhancing digital transformation, we can create more sustainable, efficient, and resilient industries. The event aimed to encourage Indonesian and German business players to collaborate on sustainable industrial technology projects.
During the forum, Prijono Sugiarto, the President Commissioner of Astra International, and Dr. Martin Brudermüller, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, shared their insights on Indonesia-German business cooperation. Sugiarto highlighted that Indonesia has developed into a country with more stable business resilience, while Dr. Brudermüller advised Indonesia to focus on meeting the needs of its people and not necessarily do what European countries do. He added that Indonesia's stability and investment ease make it an attractive destination for German investors.***Hans
