Growth in the Logistics Sector and the Role of APP Jakarta Polytechnic in Producing Quality Human Resources

Jakarta, INTI - The logistics sector in Indonesia, which includes transportation and warehousing, has shown positive growth of 8.65 percent in the first quarter of 2024. This growth brings a breath of fresh air to the manufacturing industry, which relies heavily on logistics efficiency. The Ministry of Industry continues to support this sector with various vocational education and training programs, one of which is through APP Jakarta Polytechnic.

According to the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, adequate logistics infrastructure provision will significantly support industrial activities. "This is because the movement of goods or commodities from producing areas to consumers can be carried out effectively and efficiently," he said on Thursday (11/7).

APP Jakarta Polytechnic, as one of the polytechnics under the Ministry of Industry, plays an essential role in producing competent industrial human resources in the logistics field. This polytechnic offers three main study programs, namely D-III Industrial Electronics Logistics Management, D-III ASEAN and China Regional International Trade, and D-III Industrial Electronics Marketing Management. Students in these programs are equipped with various materials and practical skills that align with current industry needs.

The Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry, Masrokhan, added that APP Jakarta Polytechnic students are not only equipped with theoretical knowledge but also challenged to create various beneficial innovations. One proud innovation is the development of a line follower robot by the polytechnic students. A line follower robot is a robot that uses sensors to follow a line, which is widely used in modern industries for automation, such as goods transportation and production line inspection.

“The APP Jakarta Polytechnic robot team recently won first place in the line followers competition at Technocorner UGM 2024. This shows that the polytechnics under the Ministry of Industry have impressive achievements,” said Masrokhan.

The line follower robot developed by APP Jakarta Polytechnic has various advantages, including an up-to-date program, a user-friendly interface, and easy path planning capabilities for users. This robot is equipped with advanced sensors, precise control management, mapping features, and various operating modes. Additionally, the robot is designed to be lightweight for optimal speed and can follow the provided track with high precision.

As proof of APP Jakarta Polytechnic's commitment to developing its students' competencies, they held the National Contest Robot Line Followers 2024 on March 2-3, 2024. This competition was attended by 28 teams from various schools and universities across Indonesia, showcasing the participants' innovations and advanced robotic technology.

APP Jakarta Polytechnic is currently opening new student admissions through the Industrial Vocational Admission Program (JARVIS). There are two admission pathways, JARVIS Independent, open until July 31, 2024, and JARVIS Joint 2, which lasts until July 21, 2024.
