Government Supports the Formation of Startup Ecosystem in the IKN Area

Jakarta, INTI – The Indonesian government is striving to form a startup ecosystem in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated that the development of the startup ecosystem is closely related to creative economy and digitalization. Moreover, the creative economy sector in Indonesia has successfully achieved an added value of Rp 1,414 trillion.

"As much as 78 percent of this digital economy helps MSMEs by selling their products and increasing their income by up to 76 percent," he emphasized in a Talkshow entitled "Building a Startup Ecosystem in the Nusantara Capital City" at Midpoint Place, Central Jakarta, Friday (22/03/2024).

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga revealed that to strengthen digitalization which is an important part of the startup ecosystem, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has prepared various programs that are expected to be able to develop the potential of startups in Indonesia, especially in the IKN area. These include Bekup (Baparekraf for Startup), Baparekraf Digital Entrepreneurship (BDE), Baparekraf Digital Innovation Lab (Bedil), and Baparekraf Developer Day (BDD).

"There are three skill improvements that we are doing, namely upskilling, reskilling, and newskilling with an approach of innovation, adaptation, and collaboration," he said.

In line with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga, Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi revealed that his party also supports the formation of a startup ecosystem in the IKN area through the Hub.id program.

"This program facilitates meetings between business actors and strategic partners to increase the scale of their business, which allows them to grow," said Minister Budi Arie.

The Talkshow was also attended by Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation of the IKN Authority, Mohammed Ali Berawi; Head of the Paser IKN Customary Institution, Musa; and Chair of the Indonesian Creative Village Association (ADKI), Miftah Sabri
