INTI,- The Indonesian government continues to push for the acceleration of the Electric Battery-Based Motor Vehicle Ecosystem (KBLBB) to encourage the public to shift towards environmentally friendly vehicles, which is aimed at reducing the use of fossil fuels, saving foreign exchange, and reducing CO2 emissions. Efforts to accelerate the KBLBB ecosystem are being made through the provision of incentives for buyers of electric motorcycles, cars, and buses.
"The development of this ecosystem policy is carried out through an approach to increasing competitiveness and downstreaming natural resources, as well as opening investment opportunities for electric vehicles and expanding employment opportunities throughout the industry supply chain," said Ministry of Industry spokesperson Febri Hendri Antoni Arif in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/5). The development of the electric vehicle ecosystem aims to produce 30% of electric vehicles from the population by 2030.
Febri Hendri explained that the acceleration of the ecosystem formation is being carried out through the provision of incentives so that Indonesia does not lose its competitiveness with rival countries in attracting electric vehicle manufacturers. For example, the Chinese government provides incentives equivalent to Rp150 million for electric cars, while India provides incentives equivalent to Rp28 million for electric cars and Rp4.2 million for electric motorcycles. Meanwhile, Thailand, which is Indonesia's competitor, also provides incentives equivalent to Rp63 million for electric cars and Rp7.6 million for electric motorcycles. Similar incentives are also given by the United States and Europe. "The President has instructed that in order to attract electric vehicle investment, incentives similar to those given by competing countries must also be given by Indonesia. The era of electric vehicles is a certainty that must be maximally prepared for so that the use of electric vehicles in the form of motorcycles, cars, or buses in Indonesia can proceed quickly," said Febri Hendri. ***.
