Jakarta, INTI – The Indonesian government is accelerating digital transformation amidst the challenges posed by a cyber attack on the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS). Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics, Nezar Patria, emphasized that the spirit to realize digitalization and digital transformation will not wane due to this incident.

"We cannot back down; we must move forward! Digitalization continues and Indonesia must be at the forefront. This incident should not dampen our spirit for digital transformation," he emphasized during the Satu Meja The Forum program at Menara Kompas, Central Jakarta, Wednesday evening (June 26, 2024).

Benefits of Digital Transformation

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria believes that digital transformation can increase efficiency, simplify business processes, and make it easier for the public to access government services. According to him, the cyber attack incident provides a valuable lesson to strengthen cyber security in the digital transformation process.

"I think we have learned an important and critical lesson here," he stressed.

Digital transformation is not only the responsibility of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics but must also be carried out by all elements of the nation. “Digital transformation is a transformation of the nation,” he stated.

Steps to Strengthen Cyber Security

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria assured that in the design of digital transformation in Indonesia, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also considered the aspect of cyber security.

"This awareness already exists in the Ministry of Communication and Informatics when designing digital transformation, which includes its security, namely cyber security," he explained.

The cyber attack incident on digital infrastructure shows the existence of gaps in digital security. The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of increasing vigilance against cyber attacks.

"There is no safe place; there must be awareness of this for all digital infrastructure," he stressed.

Apology and Recovery Directives

On behalf of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Deputy Minister Nezar Patria apologized to the public experiencing difficulties due to disrupted public services.

"This attack has occurred, indicating a weakness. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics, as the institution overseeing this issue, has expressed apologies, especially to the public whose services were disrupted," he stated.

President Joko Widodo has directed for the recovery of public services as quickly as possible.

“The President's directive is to act quickly, so our priority is public services, ensuring that people are not disrupted and that government functions using digital platforms are not affected,” he explained.

The acceleration of digital transformation in Indonesia continues despite the challenges of cyber attacks. The government is committed to strengthening cyber security and ensuring that public services run smoothly. This incident serves as an important lesson to enhance awareness and readiness in facing cyber threats in the future.
