Jakarta, INTI - The inauguration of the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH) marks a significant moment for the development of domestic telecommunications products to compete globally. President Joko Widodo hopes that IDTH can strengthen the local digital technology ecosystem by providing easy access to certification.
"It should not stop at just procuring equipment and technology but also become a place to drive innovation and strengthen the local digital technology ecosystem with easy access to certification," he expressed during the IDTH Inauguration at the Telecommunication Device Testing Center (BBPPT) of the Directorate General of Resources and Devices of Post and Informatics of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, in Depok City, West Java Province, on Tuesday (07/05/2024).
IDTH is a transformation of the Telecommunication Device Testing Center (BBPPT) of the Directorate General of SDPPI of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. President Joko Widodo expressed pride in having IDTH as one of the largest and most comprehensive telecommunications device testing laboratories in Southeast Asia.
"This is what we aspire to achieve together—digitization becoming the basis for the development of the domestic industry and economy by placing local manufacturers as leaders in their own country," he emphasized.
Previously, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi stated that IDTH would increase its testing capacity every year. In 2023, the testing services covered 644 features.
"The projection for 2024 shows an increase to around 1600 features. It is estimated that by 2025 to 2026, IDTH can serve testing up to 5,000 features per year," he explained.
Minister Budi Arie is seriously committed to facilitating Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). He stated that this preference is aimed at developing innovations in the field of digital technology devices through easy device testing.
"For MSMEs, we provide it for free, Mr. President. Local MSMEs don't need to pay," he asserted.
During the inauguration event, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology Nezar Patria, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin, and Mayor of Depok Mohammad Idris.
