Jakarta, INTI - As a Finance Minister, focusing on the quality of human resources becomes crucial. Ultimately, if both the economy and human resources possess sufficient quality, inclusive and equitable growth becomes inevitable.
For countries like Indonesia with a relatively young population demographic, it's essential to invest in the early stages. Hence, Indonesia allocates significant resources to the education and healthcare sectors.
I conveyed this during the Seminar "Transforming Challenge into Action: Expanding Health Coverage for All," which was part of the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings agenda this time.
Moreover, legislation mandates the government to provide universal healthcare access. It's expensive, yet immensely beneficial to the broader public.
Indonesia itself is a country with a very large population, 270 million inhabitants. Reforming the healthcare sector is neither easy nor cheap. Hence, support from Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) like the World Bank is crucial.
The aimed reforms aren't just about treatment aspects but also prevention. This includes integrating preventive measures from lifestyle to early disease detection. It also involves enhancing the quality of healthcare services across the board.
Achieving a developed nation status requires a healthy population. Thus, the Ministry of Finance is fully committed to supporting all reforms aimed at improving the quality of life for the Indonesian people.
