Jakarta, INTI - Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, embarked on a working visit to Seattle, Washington, United States, on Friday (26/04/2024). In addition to meeting with the Indonesian Student Association (Permias) in Seattle, the Deputy Minister will explore opportunities for collaboration with global companies such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.

"We know that Seattle is a technology hub, so there are several things we will discuss, such as opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry of Communication and Information to enhance the competence and capabilities of human capital, especially to strengthen Indonesia's digital talent," he explained in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday (27/04/2024) local time.

Deputy Minister Nezar Patria stated that on behalf of the Indonesian Government, they will examine the latest technology best practices suitable for implementation in device and data governance management.

"The meeting between the Ministry of Communication and Information and Amazon Web Services will take place on Monday, May 29, US time. We will discuss with them, and then continue the visit to the Microsoft Office to discuss Cyber Security. And, there will be a special session on Artificial Intelligence developed by Microsoft," he added.

The Deputy Minister will also discuss opportunities for the development of the National Data Center (PDN) currently under construction in Cikarang, West Java. He emphasized that the PDN project is currently 45 percent complete and will require good governance to be optimally utilized.

"We hope that the PDN in Cikarang can be completed by October 10, 2024, to be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo. That's why we try to delve into good data governance, suitable for Indonesia, while also meeting data sovereignty. That is one of our goals today," he explained while outlining plans for PDN development in Batam and the proposed new capital city.

Arriving at Seattle Tacoma International Airport at 10:25 local time, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information was accompanied by Special Staff Riant Nugroho. During the working visit, Deputy Minister Nezar Patria will also meet with representatives of the Indonesian Diaspora who work and study in the technology hub city.

"Permias Seattle is a non-profit student organization based in Seattle. The organization is independently run by Indonesian students pursuing education in the Greater Seattle Area," he concluded.
