Jakarta, INTI - Telecommunication devices meeting security technical standards and passing tests are prerequisites for circulation in Indonesia. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) conducts testing of telecommunication device security technical standards through the Telecommunication Device Testing Center (BBPPT) under the Directorate General of Resources and Devices of Posts and Informatics of the Ministry of Kominfo.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, stated that collaboration is key to maintaining telecommunication devices with international standards.

"Telecommunication devices must be safe from radiation and other disturbances in society. If there is no one to ensure their security, how will it be done? This is the task of the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH). So, in everyday life, the role and function of this lab are indeed very important," he emphasized in a Press Conference after the Inspection Visit for the Inauguration Preparation of IDTH at BBPPT Tapos, Depok, West Java, on Thursday (05/02/2024).

Minister Budi Arie stated that IDTH will play an optimal role as a platform for collaboration and synergy between the government, industry, MSMEs, academia, and the community in the development of innovative technological solutions. It even becomes a supporter of the growth of the domestic digital ecosystem, making it a catalyst for innovation.

"Talent development is important, this is also the pentahelix. We collaborate with universities for learning facilities, such as UI, ITB, ITS, Telkom University, Semarang State Polytechnic, Bandar Lampung University. Because universities are one of the centers of excellence," he explained.

According to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, IDTH, currently implemented by BBPPT as a testing laboratory, has three strategic roles in device testing. First, protect, which refers to protecting the health and safety of humans from non-compliance emissions of devices that potentially disrupt.

"Second, gate, refers to the role of IDTH as a gate for the flow of exports and imports of electronic products, including assisting domestic industries to enter the global market," he explained.

The third role relates to spectrum management. According to Minister Budi Arie, this is part of national frequency spectrum management that guarantees interoperability and protection from interference among device users to improve user experience.

Minister Budi Arie emphasizes that IDTH also has a role in providing guidance and infrastructure for digital solution development.

"Through sandboxes, makerspaces, showcases. Currently, partnerships have been established with several stakeholders, including testing laboratories, universities, and communities involved in the telecommunication device sector," he said.

In the future, Minister Budi Arie hopes that this collaboration will continue to grow, so that IDTH can provide space for Indonesian innovators to continue to create.

"In doing so, IDTH contributes to ensuring that Indonesia has a strong foundation for digital independence," he concluded.

During the visit to BBPPT under the Directorate General of Resources and Devices of Posts and Informatics of the Ministry of Kominfo, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi was accompanied by the Director-General of Resources and Devices of Posts and Informatics of the Ministry of Kominfo, Ismail.
