Badung, INTI – To strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Egypt, Minister of Communications and Informatics (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi will meet with the Egyptian Delegation during the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) held at Pecatu Hall, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Badung. This meeting is seen as a strategic step in building cooperation in the field of digitalization between the two countries, which have a long history of diplomatic relations.

In a Press Conference at the Media Center of HLF-MSP and the 2nd IAF on Sunday (01/09/2024), Minister Budi Arie emphasized the importance of this meeting in the context of globalization, which increasingly strengthens the role of digitalization. "This meeting is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and develop strategic cooperation in the field of technology and digitalization," he said.

Digitalization as a Catalyst for Economic Growth

Digitalization has become a major driver of economic growth in various countries. In this bilateral meeting, Menkominfo Budi Arie and the Egyptian Delegation will discuss various aspects of digitalization that can be implemented to accelerate digital transformation in both countries. One of the main topics to be discussed is the equal distribution of internet access, which is expected to become a key pillar in increasing digital inclusion and driving economic growth.

"We will share our experiences with Egypt on digitalization, including equal internet access and how digitalization can enhance economic leaps and national progress. And we certainly want to achieve Indonesia's advancement," said Minister Budi Arie.

Indonesia itself has developed various initiatives to expand internet access to all corners of the country. This experience is expected to serve as a model for Egypt in developing a more equitable internet network, especially in remote areas. Additionally, Indonesia will share its experience in building an inclusive digital ecosystem, from developing start-ups, increasing digital literacy, to implementing technology in strategic sectors.

Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Technology

This bilateral meeting will not only discuss technical issues related to digitalization but will also seek broader cooperation in technological development. According to Menkominfo, Indonesia and Egypt have great potential to collaborate in developing innovative technologies that can provide direct benefits to the people of both countries.

"We hope this meeting will result in more intensive communication and discussions, covering substantive matters," he said.

This cooperation is expected to encompass various fields, from smart city development, cybersecurity, to educational technology that can improve the quality of human resources in both countries. Indonesia and Egypt will also explore the possibility of cooperation in developing digital applications that can support strategic sectors such as health, education, and public services.

Strengthening Relations with African Countries

As part of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum, this meeting is also an opportunity for Indonesia to strengthen its relations with African countries. According to Menkominfo, digital transformation is a global agenda that can serve as a bridge to build closer relations with African countries.

"This is an opportunity to build closer relations and together achieve progress and prosperity," he said.

In this context, Indonesia is committed to not only utilizing technology for domestic advancement but also supporting development in friendly countries, especially in Africa. Menkominfo is optimistic that this meeting will bring benefits to both Indonesia and African countries, particularly in increasing access to information and technology, which can be key to shared prosperity.

Commitment to International Cooperation

Given the long history of relations between Indonesia and African countries, especially when they were fighting for independence together, Menkominfo emphasized the importance of international cooperation in facing global challenges. According to him, increasing access to technology and information is key to creating a more advanced and prosperous society.

"We are committed to improving access to information and technology to advance Indonesian society and to fostering beneficial international cooperation," he explained.

With a strong spirit of cooperation, this meeting is expected to be a starting point for building a brighter future through inclusive and sustainable digitalization.
