Jakarta, INTI - At the peak of the Indonesia Internet Expo and Summit (IIXS) 2024, Zulfadly Syam, Secretary General of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), officially announced the DIALS 2024 Declaration. This declaration is the result of in-depth discussions, cross-sector collaboration, and strategic idea exchanges involving various stakeholders.

Towards Equitable Connectivity

In the declaration, Zulfadly Syam emphasized the importance of developing equitable digital infrastructure across Indonesia as a critical step towards achieving Indonesia's Digital Vision 2045. The construction of backbone and last-mile infrastructure is considered the main foundation for achieving high-quality connectivity across the country, including remote areas.

However, realizing this connectivity requires strong regulatory support from the government. The government is expected to act as a facilitator by providing policies that encourage investment and innovation in digital infrastructure development. Furthermore, regulatory harmonization between the central and regional governments is crucial to avoid overlapping policies that could hinder infrastructure development.

Addressing Cybersecurity Challenges

The DIALS 2024 Declaration also highlights the growing importance of cybersecurity amidst rapid technological advancements. Zulfadly Syam stressed the need for a strong national strategy to build national cybersecurity resilience. Cross-sector collaboration is key to addressing these challenges, particularly in the cloud and hosting industries, which need to continuously innovate to counter increasingly complex cyber threats.

APJII also advocates for the development of local cybersecurity solutions that can compete in the international market. This is essential to strengthening Indonesia's digital sovereignty and reducing reliance on imported products.

Supporting the Use of Domestic Products

To support the development of domestic industries, APJII encourages its members to use more locally-made products in telecommunications infrastructure development. The Domestic Product Utilization Enhancement Policy (P3DN) must be supported by all stakeholders to ensure that locally-made products can compete with imports in terms of both quality and availability.

Synergy and Collaboration Towards Digital Indonesia 2045

The DIALS 2024 Declaration underscores the importance of synergy and collaboration among all stakeholders in Indonesia's digital ecosystem. Inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital transformation can only be achieved through close cooperation between the government, industry, and society. Zulfadly Syam calls on all parties to continue working hard and being optimistic that Indonesia's Digital Vision 2045 can be realized.
