Jakarta, INTI – Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Nezar Patria, highlighted the importance of cybersecurity as a key strategy in realizing the Digital Indonesia Vision (VID) 2045. This vision is a guiding framework for policy and strategic directions set by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to accelerate the nation's digital transformation.

"VID 2045 is essential for achieving Digital Indonesia 2045. It is expected to guide all relevant stakeholders in successfully advancing Indonesia's digital transformation agenda," stated Nezar Patria during his Executive Keynote at Fortinet Accelerate Asia 2024, held at Fairmont Jakarta on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

The Digital Indonesia Vision 2045 aims to elevate Indonesia from its middle-income status. One crucial aspect emphasized by Deputy Minister Nezar Patria is the enhancement of cybersecurity culture.

"By fostering a cybersecurity culture across all sectors, Indonesia can create a more trustworthy and productive digital ecosystem. A notable example is Singapore’s Digital Defence approach, which makes cybersecurity a responsibility for all components of society," he remarked.

The Deputy Minister explained that Singapore's Whole-of-Nation approach encourages every citizen to adopt good cybersecurity habits and remain vigilant against hoaxes and misinformation.

"This approach also considers the impact of individual actions in the digital space on the broader community," he added.

Nezar Patria urged every individual to actively participate in cybersecurity efforts within their capacity.

"The government is responsible for creating a secure cyberspace and enhancing digital literacy," he asserted.

The Deputy Minister also encouraged industry players to continuously improve cybersecurity measures and educate users on cybersecurity. Concurrently, he called on academia to engage in ongoing research and development related to cybersecurity issues.

"Equally important, society must continually enhance personal security practices in the digital realm," he noted.

Nezar Patria expressed appreciation for Fortinet’s initiative in organizing Accelerate Asia 2024. He hopes the event will inspire similar initiatives and foster collaboration among stakeholders in the field of cybersecurity.

"Through existing collaborations, I am confident we can create a safer and more reliable digital space for all users, thus realizing a Connected Indonesia: More Digital, More Advanced," he concluded.
