Jakarta, INTI – The Indonesian government is increasingly focusing on accelerating the One Map Policy as part of its national strategy to achieve the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) targets. This policy aims to support the development of Strategic National Projects (PSN) and Special Economic Zones (KEK) by providing accurate spatial data and reducing land use overlaps.
At the launch of Geoportal One Map Policy 2.0, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, representing President Joko Widodo, expressed hope that the One Map Policy would create efficiency in development processes. "The One Map Policy is expected to eliminate overlapping land use and accelerate development processes. In the current geopolitical and geo-economic uncertainty, the ability to provide the most efficient and best business climate is what attracts investment," he said on Thursday (18/07).
Resilient Indonesian Economy
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who is the Chairman of the One Map Policy Acceleration Team, noted that despite global uncertainties, Indonesia’s economy remains resilient, growing at 5.11% (yoy) in the first quarter of 2024, making it one of the top three among G20 countries. Indonesia's inflation remains low, and the country continues to be viewed positively by foreign investors.
The RPJPN 2025-2045 targets an economic growth rate of 6-7% with an investment target of 1,900 trillion rupiah by 2025 and a per capita income expected to reach 30,000 USD by 2045. “To achieve these targets, the One Map Policy is crucial as it relates directly to licensing in the OSS (Online Single Submission) system and spatial planning. This policy is also strategic for the development of PSN and KEK,” added Minister Airlangga.
Achievements of the One Map Policy
As of July 2024, the One Map Policy has collected 151 Thematic Maps from 23 ministries/agencies across 38 provinces. The policy has also successfully resolved land use overlaps, reducing mismatched land use areas by 19.97 million hectares. Minister Airlangga emphasized the importance of expanding the benefits of the One Map Policy and opening information access to the public through the launch of Geoportal One Map Policy 2.0.
“We have also prepared a White Paper titled ‘Shaping a Unified Future Beyond 2024,’ which includes recommendations for strengthening legal foundations, enhancing geospatial human resources, providing large-scale base maps, adding new thematic maps, and accelerating the resolution of land use overlaps,” said Minister Airlangga.
Achievements in Strategic National Projects and Special Economic Zones
As of July 2024, Indonesia has designated 233 Strategic National Projects, consisting of 218 projects and 15 programs. The total investment value of these PSNs is estimated at 6,246.7 trillion rupiah, expected to create 2.71 million jobs. Meanwhile, KEK has shown satisfactory performance with a cumulative investment realization of 205.2 trillion rupiah and 132,227 jobs created.
Minister Airlangga also reported significant achievements, such as the completion of the Freeport Indonesia downstream project in Gresik with a 58 trillion rupiah investment, and the establishment of Data Centers in the KEK Nongsa Digital Park, including the first Data Center specifically for Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, Indonesia has invited King’s College London to contribute to KEK Singhasari to enhance human resources quality.
“With the acceleration of the One Map Policy and the development of PSN and KEK, we expect Indonesia’s development to increase by 1-2%,” concluded Minister Airlangga.
