Bali, INTI – The Government of Indonesia and the Government of Finland are exploring bilateral cooperation in the digital sector. Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi announced that the collaboration will focus on three key areas: digitalization, the National Data Center, and Public Protection for Disaster Relief (PPDR).

"Finland wants to cooperate with Indonesia on three fronts: digitalization, the National Data Center, and Public Protection for Disaster Relief (PPDR)," Minister Budi Arie explained after a bilateral meeting with Finland’s Minister for Development and Foreign Trade Ville Tavio at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, on Monday (20/05/2024).

Minister Budi Arie highlighted Finland's status as an advanced nation with numerous reputable technology companies. He believes that partnering with Finland is an ideal choice to support Indonesia's technological advancement.

"There are many great technologies and companies in Finland that we can collaborate with or partner with to support these three areas," he stated.

Minister Budi Arie expressed his hope that this meeting would lead to concrete cooperation in the future. Indonesia and Finland have already enjoyed a 70-year-long bilateral relationship in various sectors.

"We hope this cooperation will continue. We have been partners for 70 years, seven decades, which is a long time for Indonesia and Finland to maintain this bilateral relationship," he remarked.

During the meeting, Minister Budi Arie Setiadi was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology Nezar Patria, Director General of Post and Information Technology Administration, and Special Staff to the Minister Widodo Muktiyo. Meanwhile, Finland’s Minister for Development and Foreign Trade Ville Tavio was accompanied by the Finnish Ambassador to Indonesia Pekka Kaihilahti and Ministerial Advisor Tuomas Tahti.

This cooperation aims to leverage Finland's technological expertise to enhance Indonesia's digital infrastructure and disaster response capabilities, contributing to sustainable development and mutual growth.
